Universe in Motion - Collaboration with Diana Escobar

This collection is the result of another artistic collaboration that began months ago when we received a proposal from Diana Escobar. We didn’t know her work at the time, but we started a conversation. Diana’s tone was like a whisper to our ears, an ode to tranquility and peace. We are delighted to share a brief interview with Diana, where she talks about her approach to us, her inspiration process for the illustrations, and her experience being part of Mujer Pájaro.

Diana Escobar is a textile designer with over 15 years of experience in the creative industry. Her life has been filled with colors, exotic places, beautiful plants, captivating scents, and authentic flavors. Part of her interest in collaborating with us stems from her admiration for Casilda Mut. According to Diana, “It is a brand that values handcrafted work, attention to detail, community and ancestral labor, creating beautiful, poetic, and fresh garments, artisanally adorned—collections that tell stories for real women. I discovered a brand that doesn’t follow stereotypes, and that captivated me.”

To connect our pieces with Diana's work, we both aimed to preserve the essence we share: the handcrafted approach and the Mujer Pájaro concept. Diana explains, “I wanted to have a woman as the central element of the composition, as if she were a magnet for freedom and movement, creating a symbol of femininity and strength.”

We worked together to find the right technique and the representations to bring each stroke to life. For this collaboration, the Mujer Pájaro print was illustrated by hand using watercolor. “We chose this technique to create illustrations with varied textures and shades, where colors blend to form subtle new tones with rhythm and movement, emphasizing the handmade process,” Diana says.

The inspiration process—both personal and professional—around the Mujer Pájaro concept unfolded organically, yet was also challenging, as we had never worked with printed garments before. Diana reflects, “The result had to be something truly unique and captivating. We wanted a print that balanced figurative, abstract, and minimalist elements.”

Diana began by understanding the DNA of the brand and, most importantly, interpreting Mujer Pájaro, who has been the muse and main inspiration for Casilda Mut throughout the year. "I started by creating a moodboard with images of female bodies in motion, elements of nature, birds, and feathers. I looked for key words in Sara Coello's narrative 'Mujer Pájaro, susurro que trae el viento' (...) I wanted to place a woman at the center of the composition, as if she were a magnet for freedom and movement, creating a symbol of femininity and strength."

Mujer Pájaro is everywhere, with the ability to explore and see the world from all perspectives, to learn and build her plumage, to curl up when feeling vulnerable, to heal, and to reinvent herself. Diana is one of these bird women who accompany, inspire, and whom we celebrate. "To me, a Mujer Pájaro is a dreamer, an entrepreneur, a free spirit with creative energy—a woman who doesn’t follow stereotypes, who loves to explore the unknown, and who enjoys life. She is a nomad in her thoughts, sensitive, and an admirer of natural beauty. She has the strength to be independent (...).

I completely identify with Mujer Pájaro because I’ve always valued warrior and independent women who live and radiate creative and inspiring energy."

To translate her inspiration and identity, Diana sought to reflect nature and constant transformation—illustrations that convey fluidity and femininity, with compositions that have the rhythm and strength to allow all the elements to breathe together harmoniously.

This collaboration with Diana has given us greater confidence and inspiration to open new horizons, explore new challenges, and seek new forms, designs, colors, and textures—everything that allows us to stay in motion while incorporating the artisanal work of many women. "I’ve enjoyed the entire process; it’s been wonderful to feel the trust and creative freedom that the Casilda Mut team gave me. This was one of the first prints I’ve created illustrating the female form, and it was quite a challenge to achieve the balance between the figurative and the abstract, resulting in this beautiful illustration," Diana explains.

This collection is, therefore, the result of a woman-to-woman conversation, where her strokes reveal Mujer Pájaro in a universe in motion.
I continue, and will always continue, flying with other bird women.
